Become a Member at Nahalat Shalom
NEWS: A member of our community will match every dollar that Nahalat Shalom receives in 5784 membership payments up to a total of $40,000, made between August 1 and December 15, 2023. The matching funds will be deposited to our Spiritual Leadership Endowment Fund. So, if you become or renew your membership at the $1,000 level, an additional $1,000 woolly go to the endowment fund.
We are asking you to consider increasing your membership this year. Costs are rising to run the Shul plus your membership donation will help the endowment grow. Thank you to the anonymous donor for their generosity and thank you for becoming a member or renewing as soon as possible.
Our Congregation is membership driven and founded on equity and inclusion. We offer sliding scale membership based on the amount of money you are able to give. Look over the financial information in the membership packet, consider where you fall based on your income and wealth, and determine what will work for you.
Membership fees pay for services, staff salaries, building maintenance, and all of the programs that make Nahalat Shalom unique. They also provide benefits, including:
A voice in our vibrant community, including a vote to approve our budget
Eligibility to serve on the Va’ad (Council) and other leadership opportunities
Ability to buy a plot for you or a family member in Nahalat Shalom’s section at La Puerta Burial Ground
Pastoral Counseling and end of life services (funeral, memorial, and shiva) from our Rabbis
Reminder of loved one’s Yahrzeit (anniversary of death)
Community support through hard times
Two hour use of our facility, at no cost, annually plus discounted rental rates
$1,400 worth of B’nai Mitzvah preparation for families who have been members at least two years before the B’nai Mitzvah prep begins, and whose child has been a part of our religious school.
