Celebrate Shabes (Shabbat) JOY in-person in our sanctuary. The participatory klezmer Shabes service from 6:30-7:35 PM can be danced to and includes prayers from Kabbalat Shabbat and the Ma’ariv services. We will also observe the candle lighting/blessing, Mourners’ Kaddish, blessing for healing, Kiddush and Hamotzee. The service will be followed by a vegetarian-kosher pescatarian potluck dinner at 7:45pm and recreational Jewish dancing to a klezmer music jam from 8-9 PM. Everyone is welcome to all or any part of the evening’s events.

NEW Meditation opportunity:
On Shabbat morning there will be a silent meditation from 9:10 -9:45 a.m. preceding the chanting. Plan to arrive by 9 a.m. to the main sanctuary. Doors will be locked at 9:10 to protect the silent space.
At 10:00 the Chanting Service begins. The service will be contemplative as we take time to enter the liturgy through chant, then pause in the silence long enough to allow for an unfolding of possibilities and to develop the skillful practice that allows for Shabbat consciousness to flourish.

On Shabbat morning there will be a silent meditation from 9:10 -9:45 a.m. preceding the chanting. Plan to arrive by 9 a.m. to the main sanctuary. Doors will be locked at 9:10 to protect the silent space.
At 10:00 the Chanting Service begins. The service will be contemplative as we take time to enter the liturgy through chant, then pause in the silence long enough to allow for an unfolding of possibilities and to develop the skillful practice that allows for Shabbat consciousness to flourish.

Queer Shabbat is a monthly ritual space for reflection, connection, grounding in the sacred cycles of Jewish time. This is a space for self-identified Queer Jews and their loved ones to gather. We will be hosting hybrid Queer Shabbat in Bayt B'racha IN-PERSON and also on ZOOM; Please come masked! Whether you are attending virtually or in person, you're invited to bring: songs, poetry, movement, creative activities, and meditations from your heart. Bring (vegetarian) food to eat yourself or to share while we chat after the service (some people may choose to unmask in order to eat together). Ritual items and challah welcome.

Celebrate Shabes (Shabbat) JOY in-person in our sanctuary. The participatory klezmer Shabes service from 6:30-7:35 PM can be danced to and includes prayers from Kabbalat Shabbat and the Ma’ariv services. We will also observe the candle lighting/blessing, Mourners’ Kaddish, blessing for healing, Kiddush and Hamotzee. The service will be followed by a vegetarian-kosher pescatarian potluck dinner at 7:45pm and recreational Jewish dancing to a klezmer music jam from 8-9 PM. Everyone is welcome to all or any part of the evening’s events.

Albuquerque Folk Festival First Sunday Sing-Along meets on the first Sunday of EVERY month from 4-6pm in Beit B’racha.
We go around the circle, each person picking a song from Rise Up Singing or Rise Again Songbook (we have several)
We sing songs of hope and peace. And some songs of uncertainty and concern for our friends and fellow human beings. And love songs. And just fun. You pick the songs. We’ll all sing together.

Just Revolutions Art Show by Lynn Gottlieb draws on ancient Jewish manuscript and synagogue art & anti-fascist poster art to create an artistic condemnation of US and Israel state violence, as well as a visual ode to Way of the Mishkan, the Jewish sanctuary practice of welcoming the dispossessed.
Follows Israeli comedian Noam Shuster-Eliassi who grew up immersed in a vision of Israel/Palestine coexistence rooted in equality and justice. After working as a peace activist with the UN, she turned to comedy as a more effective means of conveying her message. ($10 minimum donation, $7 students)
This special Shabbat Ceremony features music by Las Flores del Valle with Laura Rebolloso, Carlos Arellano and Adam Horowitz. Come celebrateTu b’Shevat, and the fruits of the lands of exile. Led by members of the Sefardic community with dance, poetry and live music. The torah is placed in the center of the room for all to experience. With guest Rabbi Lynn Gottleib.
10:00am-Noon, followed by an Oneg with bagels and cream cheese and coffee.

We gather to sing together as a practice of care, listening, and collective strength.
This circle will offer songs as balm, not answers, but companions to help regulate our nervous systems, strengthen trust, and remember what we are working toward in these intense times. Accessible and repeatable, these songs will be taught by ear and offered as communal practice, with room for rest, choice, and different ways of participating. No singing experience is needed and you are welcome exactly as you are.

The mitzvah - instruction - to mark the Jewish month with the new moon is the first mitzvah given to the Israelites in the Torah as they depart from Egypt. This ancient custom of gathering to mark the new Jewish month offers a chance for reflection and insight. Join student rabbi Josie to begin the new months of Shevat, Adar, and Nisan in song, conversation, and guided reflection.
The Shabbat liturgy is infused with mysticism; indeed, its structure is a road map to mystical experience. We will follow the traditional liturgical structure of the Shabbat service to create room within ourselves for the stillness at the core of mystical experience.
This will be Alan Wagman’s last service offering at Nahalat Shalom.
