Marques Hollie, they/he, is a theatre artist, storyteller, classically trained tenor, and ritualist based in Philadelphia, facilitating holy sparks globally. Marques made their professional stage debut in Opera Omaha’s 2008 production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Aïda. Following a particularly meaningful Passover seder, they began seeking out opportunities to explore the intersection of their Black, Queer, and Jewish identities, leading to the creation of Go Down, Moshe, a work-in-progress monodrama that reimagines the exodus through Negro spirituals, civil rights-era music, and the narratives of enslaved people. Marques’ work as an activist and creative liturgist has been recognized by organizations including the New York Jewish Week and the 14th Street Y. Devoted to the transformative spiritual power of storytelling, Marques received ordination as a Maggid in August 2021. Visit Marques’ website at http://www.marqueshollie.com/
