Rabbi Alan Lew’s book: This is Real and You are Completely Unprepared is a High Holidays journey of transformation and the jumping off point for our Elul Shabbaton that begins with Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday, September 20th, Saturday Morning Shabbat and potluck, afternoon workshop, and Havdalah service on Saturday evening.
Through Services and a Saturday afternoon workshop, we will explore our “readiness” to enter the Days of Awe. As we journey through Shabbat, dive deeply into Torah, and create new meanings for our stories and those of our ancestors, we will emerge more prepared to meet the spiritual demands of the High Holidays (or at least we will not be completely unprepared.)
Maggidah Batya Podos will be officiating this Shabbaton, and Reb Rivkah Coburn will be zooming in to add her teachings, as she prepares to be with us in Albuquerque for the Holidays. Our schedule for the Shabbaton is as follows:
September 20th 6:30 PM Kabbalat Shabbat
September 21st 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Saturday Service (Torah portion: Ki Tavo: Blessings & Curses)
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM A potluck lunch
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM Workshop
6:30 PM Havdalah (dessert provided)
If you are attending the workshop, please bring an object that has meaning for you and connects to family memories.
We hope you will join us!
