Selichot Praybook
“Selichot” is from the Hebrew word “Selicha” meaning forgiveness. The plural ending refers to the prayers and poems that are said during the month of Elul leading up to Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur (and also on other Jewish fast days). Our service includes many of the traditional Selichot prayers as well as contemporary prayers, songs, chants, poems and readings in English, Spanish, Yiddish and Hebrew. Many of us will wear white to symbolize purity. PLEASE BRING YOUR SHOFAR to sound the Tekiah G’dolah at the end of the service. Members of Rikud dancers will be leading dances to some of the prayers and dancing is optional.
